Struff stuns Medvedev as Wimbledon's second week takes shape

By the Mob Tennis team

J-L. Struff, ranked #74, pulled off one of the week's biggest shocks by defeating Daniil Medvedev (#9) in the third round of 2026 Wimbledon (ATP), while the tournament's marquee contenders advanced cleanly into the last 16. Novak Djokovic equalled Roger Federer's record of 105 men's singles match wins at SW19 after fighting past Arthur Rinderknech in four sets, while Jannik Sinner moved into the fourth round with a straight-sets victory over Jenson Brooksby. On the women's side, Naomi Osaka has remained undefeated through three rounds, dismantling Daria Kasatkina 6–1, 6–3 to reach the Wimbledon second week for the first time. Aryna Sabalenka, the world No. 1, dispatched Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets and will face Osaka in the fourth round. Coco Gauff also advanced through a three-set contest, while Jessica Pegula cruised past her opponent. Qualifiers Roman Safiullin and Shintaro Mochizuki have set their sights on toppling title challengers Djokovic and Sinner after their upset victories. In the doubles draw, British duo Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool remain on course to defend their men's doubles title, while Serena Williams' planned return to doubles alongside Venus has been pushed to Saturday to accommodate a knee issue. The fourth round offers compelling matchups: Sabalenka–Osaka will determine who advances further from their corner of the draw. Next week, the quarter-finals loom as Wimbledon's narrative crystallises.
