Wimbledon day four: Swiatek, Anisimova, Zverev advance as Fery alone for Britain

By the Mob Tennis team

2026 Wimbledon (WTA) entered day four with Iga Swiatek continuing her title defense in dominant form, dispatching former finalist Karolina Pliskova 6-1, 6-3 to reach the third round. Amanda Anisimova also moved through to the next stage, firing 20 aces past Sofia Kenin in three sets, while Elena Rybakina produced a dominant display to beat Caty McNally 6-1, 6-2. On the men's side, Alexander Zverev, fresh from taking confidence from winning last month's French Open, reached the third round in straight sets, as did Alex De Minaur. Taylor Fritz impressed again with a 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 victory over compatriot Patrick Kypson, while Matteo Berrettini, the former Wimbledon finalist, defeated Arthur Fils in four sets. Teenager Rafael Jodar earned a first-round comeback win against Pablo Carrenño Busta, 3-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. On the British front, Arthur Fery defied a nosebleed to defeat Otto Virtanen 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-3, becoming the sole British player to reach the third round after Katie Swan fell to Madison Keys 6-1, 6-4, ending British women's singles hopes. Looking ahead, Wimbledon continues with the men's and women's fields still wide open after French Open falters by Jannik Sinner, Ons Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, and Swiatek suggest no clear favorite has emerged. Off court, leading doubles players have accused the ATP Tour of trying to "end doubles as a viable profession", a significant professional concern threatening the format's future.
