Osaka stuns Sabalenka; Djokovic breaks Federer record at Wimbledon

By the Mob Tennis team

Naomi Osaka delivered one of the week's most stunning results, dismantling world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6–2, 7–6 in the 2026 Wimbledon fourth round to reach the quarter-finals for the first time. Osaka's inspiration came from a change in coach, playing with freedom and enjoying her mother's cooking, helping her bring back the joy to her game. The upset leaves the women's draw wide open following Barbora Krejčíková's loss to Karolína Muchová, ensuring the tournament will crown a new champion. Coco Gauff advanced to the quarter-finals in a thriller, securing a three-set victory over Switzerland's Belinda Bencic just two minutes before the 11 p.m. curfew, with the American racing against time in an unfamiliar scenario. Jessica Pegula also reached the last eight, defeating fellow American Iva Jovic 4–6, 6–3, 6–1. On the men's side, Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Roman Safiullin in four sets, and in doing so clinched his 106th career singles match win at Wimbledon, breaking Roger Federer's all-time record for most men's singles victories at the Championships. Though Djokovic didn't enjoy the record-breaking performance, the 39-year-old continues his quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner cruised past Shintaro Mochizuki 6–3, 7–6, 6–3, building momentum in his title defence. Britain's Henry Patten and Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara maintained their bid to reclaim the men's doubles title by reaching the quarter-finals. Off court, Felix Auger-Aliassime called for a rule change after an incident with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, branding the clash a disgrace. The quarter-finals begin next week across both draws.
