Muchova captures Doha; Pliskova stuns Anisimova

By the Mob Tennis team

Karolina Muchova claimed the 2026 Doha WTA 1000 title on Sunday, defeating Victoria Mboko 6–4, 7–5 in a commanding final. The result marks a significant hardcourt victory for Muchova as the season's 1000-tier calendar moves into its busiest stretch. But the week's story extended far beyond the championship: Karolina Pliskova, ranked 130th, upset sixth-seeded Amanda Anisimova in the round of 32, while unseeded Varvara Gracheva (ranked 67) eliminated 12th seed Linda Noskova in the same round. Those upsets underscored the unpredictability that defines 1000-level competition. On the ATP side, Felix Auger-Aliassime won 2026 Montpellier, the week's 250 title, defeating A. Mannarino 6–3, 7–6(4) in an indoor hardcourt final. The tour now pivots toward Dubai and the men's Doha event, with the 2026 Dubai WTA 1000 kicking off on February 15 and the 2026 Doha ATP 1000 beginning two days later on February 16.
