Teenagers Storm Roland Garros Quarterfinals; Swiatek Falls

By the Mob Tennis team

Joao Fonseca and Rafael Jodar, both 19, have seized the moment at the 2026 French Open as the draw tears wide open. Jodar beat Pablo Carreño Busta from two sets down—4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2—to book a quarterfinal against Alexander Zverev, who matches a feat shared by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic with his latest run. Fonseca, seeded No. 2, also advanced to the quarters, having sent a warm message to Djokovic on social media after a tight battle. The biggest shock came when Marta Kostyuk upset four-time champion Iga Swiatek, eliminating the last former French Open champion and guaranteeing a new titlist in both singles draws. Swiatek issued a worrying admission, confessing she "lost control of the match, and there was no way for me to come back because I felt worse and worse." With no defending champions left, the field is genuinely wide open. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka faces Naomi Osaka in a rare women's night match, also a quarter-final appointment. Jakub Mensik, just 20, rounds out the breakthrough quartet. The quarterfinals unfold this week, with Zverev the title favourite."
